DC discoveries

A few things I learned on the trip to DC with Ennui:

1. Train travel, while wildly inaccurate in the whole "scheduled time of departure/arrival" arena, is vastly more comfortable than plane travel and affords one the opportunity to meet really interesting, colorful people. Suffice to say, Ennui dubbed the man behind us Tom Arnold. It was very appropriate.

2. There's no way to describe to anyone the sheer enormity of the White House. It always surprises me. It would have been a real tragedy had it been sucessfully bombed five years ago.

3. Ennui and I both love the band Journey on road trips. And lemme tell you, belting out "Don't Stop Believing" while riding in a bright red Mustang (rental or not) is the proper way to sing any Journey song. Ennui said she felt like a Long Islander again.

4. I-95 is a wonderland of visual possibility.

5. Whitney Houston has, whether she realizes it or not, managed to combine the pursuit of linguistics with the study of mathmatics by successfully creating an "exponential declarative statement" as in "Hell to the Yeah!"

Ennui and I have managed to discover this and will never be recognized for the accomplishment.
